The basic network map only showed the computer ("this computer" in parenthesis), the ("Linksys") network, and the Internet (source).
PRINTER WILL NOT SCAN TO COMPUTER. FULL
On the full map it stated simply that this device (the printer) can not be displayed on the map, but gave no explanation as to why. The other puzzlement (perhaps a related issue, perhaps not) was why the printer didn't show on the Windows network map, but was shown when I clicked on the "See full map" button. The function is certainly separate, but for network communication matters they both are recognized by the same (multi-function) device identifier, are they not? I am puzzled by the fact that my computer can find the printer/scanner to print a document, but the Brother Control Center program (also in my computer) cannot find the printer/scanner.Īdditionally, the identifiers, in whatever form they are, should be the same for the printer or scanner function of the same machine, should they not? Your comments seemed (to my befuddled gray matter) to imply the scanner is separate from the printer. Please forgive my stultified and obtuse 70 year old mind, but I'm not sure whether I'm missing your point, you're missing mine, both or neither.hah!

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1, 64 bit Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2 Is there anyone who might have an inkling as to why I can't get the printer to scan to the computer over my wireless network?Įdit: I've added another screen clip attachment to also show that when I attempt to operate my printer from my computer using the Brother Control Center I get a window telling me it cannot locate the printer (which is on the network). Perhaps I'm misunderstanding or overlooking something here, but I don't know what it is. Actually I'm trying to get it scan the document with OCR before sending it to my computer, but it makes no difference whether I just try to scan the document to file as a jpg image or scan with OCR to a file.in either case it's not successfully connecting to my computer.and I even moved my computer to within 3-4 feet of my router.but still no connection. While I am able to get the printer to print a text document from my (laptop) computer (which of course confirms that it is on the wireless network), I am unable to get the printer to connect to my laptop when I'm attempting to scan a document from the printer to my computer. I cited the above first because it may have something to do with the following much more important problem.

At the page bottom it says the following devices have been detected (my printer) but can not be placed in the map (it doesn't say why). I have attached a couple screen shots that show what comes up when I request a network map via the control panel. While I can use my printer (Brother MFC J615W) on my home network, for some reason I cannot now get my printer to be recognized on my network map.
